Inspired by many international friends wanting to train as a facilitator of Dancing Mindfulness, we currently offer a distance-based training program, designed especially for those who are unable to travel to a live facilitator training. For more information and a referral to one of our distance based Partners, please email us. Distance based Partners and their contact information can be found on our Team Member page.

Fees and Training Costs
No refunds will be issued once you begin the consultation sessions, although you have the freedom to take as long as you’d like to complete the requirements; the sessions do not expire.
If Dr. Marich or an approved Partner determines that your performance on video does not successfully meet the facilitator competencies, you will be asked to submit another. If you feel that you will need additional consultation sessions to meet your educational needs in order to demonstrate the competencies, you may be subject to additional consultation fees at the discretion of your Partner.
Eligibility
- Open to all individuals who have experience working with people in any type of leadership capacity: therapists/helping professionals, nurses, classroom teachers, other educators, yoga teachers, dance teachers, other fitness professionals, paraprofessionals
- You must be 18 years of age; those ages 15-18 interested in training will be evaluated for appropriateness on a case-by-case basis and must have permission of a parent or guardian.
- Utility in the English or Spanish language. Consultations with most distance based partners are conducted in English, however partner Irene Rodriguez does offer Spanish language consultation.
Required Materials (Not included in program fee)
- Video: Dancing Mindfulness: LIVE (Facilitated by Dr. Jamie Marich), available on Amazon.com or by contacting support@instituteforcreativemindfulness.com
- Book: Mindfulness for Beginners by Jon Kabat-Zinn (2011), available on Amazon.com, BN.com, or similar outlets
- Book: Dancing Mindfulness: A Creative Path to Healing and Transformation by Jamie Marich.
- Read Mindfulness for Beginners and watch the video Dancing Mindfulness: LIVE (preferably with participation) before the consultation sessions commence. We strongly suggest that you purchase a copy of the video before signing up for the program.
Requirements & What's Included in the Fee
- Four total hours of one-on-one consultations with Dr. Marich or an approved Partner using Skype (preferred), or FaceTime. One-hour sessions are suggested, although shorter 30-minute sessions can be arranged. During these sessions the prospective facilitator will work through the Dancing Mindfulness Facilitator Training Manual to cover the attitudes and elements of mindfulness, basic principles of trauma-sensitivity, and the mechanics of structuring a class.
- One video review. To accommodate training in the distance format, it is imperative that Dr. Marich or an approved Partner be able to review your facilitation of a Dancing Mindfulness class. This facilitation does not need to be a big event, especially if you work in a clinical setting where taping isn’t optimal. Gathering a few of your friends together in a living room will suffice. Review of the video will happen in consultation session 3 or 4. Dr. Marich or your training Partner will review what is expected of you in the video class during the earlier consultation sessions, although they generally follow the competencies listed here.
- You will be added to the closed facilitators group on Facebook; your participation here is suggested to allow for a community-building component that is sometimes lacking when you take the training this way.
- 14.5 CEs (APA) granted via homestudy; Mindful Ohio & The Institute for Creative Mindfulness is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. Mindful Ohio & The Institute for Creative Mindfulness maintains responsibility for this program and its content.
